BPC Process Class challenge - Slides

I swear I haven been up to date in sharing my layouts with you all. Sometimes maybe we procrastinate so much. Especially so when the item hits #1 in your to-do list, you will dread to do it. I use Evernote to organise all my to-dos, but I usually don't finish them in the order of importance, usually it ends up as doing them in the order that I feel is convenient , or those that I want to do get done first. Sometimes, it gets funnier. I have a to-do list, but I do other things , and when it get done, I type them into the to do list just so that I can check them off happily. Does it happen to you? Do share :)

Anyhow, here is another layout I meant to share with you guys for quite sometime. It was done during the period of them when I scrap a bunch of mixed media style pages, just because I have my mediums out and convenient to reach for :)

This layout is an assignment for the class Process by Big Picture Classes with Catherine Davis. Catherine is such a wonderful designer, love her style that is always so timeless and artistic. This challenge is to use slider frame. Catherine has hers cut out using Silhouette machine. I have meant to do this layout for a long time too , but I was lazy to pull out my silhouette. A few months later, I bought a boardgame that has sheets of punched out chipboard cubes. After punching out all of those game pieces, I realise the remaining can be used on a scrapbook page or some alter art. Hence I saved them in my scrap room. A few months later, I revisited the classroom and the idea struck me, that I can use this chipboard negative to create layout for this challenge :)

I gesso over the entire chipboard so it becomes smooth and sturdier and opaque white.
I limit the layout to just 3 colors, white black and gold. It's simple and I love how it turns out!

Thanks for stopping by. I'm looking into creating an editorial calender so that I become more consistent with my posting :) Well, and we all know that this "to-do-task" cannot be #1 on my to-do list or it will never get done! Haha!

Till next time :) Ciao!

Another batch of handmade goodness :D

I thought I should update with a little something
these few weeks is going to be really busy
with all the tests and exam coming in
But here goes, some layouts I have done over the last holidays
These layouts are done using the studio calico handmade kit

BY the way, I have updated my gallery at studio calico
You can take a look HERE
and like or comment as you wish :)
Comments are welcome , here there everywhere!

*photos are taken before i write the journalling , some privacy hehe *

Mcguigan is a Winery in Adelaide
which i visit during may
They produce de-alcoholized wine which i find interested
This layout is done following the sketches by Shimelle Laine

The colourful chevrons are stamped with
exclusive studio calico stamps

hidden "unglam" photo inside!

Love the chevrons so much that i thought i make a bunch
this layout is on Whispering Wall
same trip to Adelaide
Love the photo

Little flower i made using studio calico Fab-rip
Fun:)

Here's another fab-rip (fabric )

Ok, i'm officially crazy over the chevron stamp
Now trying them on a sheet of 12x12 kraft cardstock
a more muted tone, but i still love how it looks like :)

A close up
You see, I love twines,
they are great to add a little touch to every project you're doing
doesnt add bulk, but it does change alot
imagine the layout without the twines
missing a whole lot!

______________________________________________

trying a little something different and simple
using my new ek- success cheese punch
to do some decoration with confetti

Another way to use the fabric is to layer it under the photo
fold it a little, make it looks like a section of a curtain on the window

Love this layout
I used this awesome maya roads words stamp
love the font

some close ups
i did some misting too :)

haha not forgetting the chevron
see that tone - on - tone chevron peeking in the right hand corner ?
still loving chevron

________________________________________________

and last but not least!
I was thinking what can i do with this bright pink die cut paper
and i thought i muted it down alittle

more flowers

flowers :)

and flowers! haha

Wow, that's alot of layouts from one kit
that's how fun a kit can be.
you can make your own kit and scrap lots of photos at once
or buy a kit from various kit clubs like studio calico and many others
I love studio calico's kit so far
and there are more to discover too :)
If you haven try a kit, give it a try
it might not be for everyone
but it can be really fun and therapeutic
sitting down with everything and not having to worry of what to match :)
Because they all matches!

That's all for now and till next time!

5 layouts to share

Finally had a chance to do some scrapbooking with the studio calico kits!
This month I'm playing with the Elmwood Park kit
with add on kits 3 and 4

So far I only manage to find time for 5 layouts.
And all of the layouts are inspired by a free class or event
It's call the Big Idea Festival that runs for the past 14 days

The first layout
I scraplifted this layout by Marcy Penner

Love the yellow font

You will be seeing lots of colourful arrows?
in my layouts! Love this paper from Echo Park
Arent they just cute?

________________________________________________

The second layout is called Dream Big

got these 2 black and white photo from some 3 4 years ago
when i was at NUS open house
thinking about my future and my ambition

using black and white photos is great
because you dont have to worry about the colours of the papers
clashing with that in the photos

________________________________________________

The third is called Dolphin Cruise
The challenge is to use a large photo!

I have always been inspired by lots of scrapbooker outside
who scrap large beautiful photos
Always wanted to give it a try

I love this photograph taken at Port Adelaide
Love the blues and the shine in the water
I printed it on an A4 sized photo paper

One good thing is that,
about 60% of the layout is alrd covered!

love this pie chart stamp in one of the add on kit
I have been using them alot recently
I stamped them with the Hero Arts shadow ink
can cut them out individually

I cut alot and keep them in a small zip lock bag
that way i can use them anytime I want to

I also use these beautiful pie charts to create some

Just love how they look so nice on any backgroud

Love the little birdies
and that they are in different sizes
like a few small birdies following their mummy?
cute huh!

And first time playing with these october afternoon flags
You can also cut your own paper and wrap around a toothpick

________________________________________________

The fourth layout is called Learn Something , from everyone

For this layout, i took inspiration from layouts by Lisa Truesdell
Lovingly her style so much recently :)
How she manage to amazingly add bits and pieces onto her layout
and it always ending up so super nice!

These pictures are taken during some of my scrapbook classes
I love to teach, because I always manage to learn something during the process
Not only just teaching crafting, but also in academic

see i'm using the birdies alot ya?
absolutely love it!

Love this wooden pennant

__________________________________________________

Last piece of layout to share is this
I love playing with mixed medium recently
And here i tried to create a rainbow effect
using spray mist i bought
to create the backgroung

See the arrows are appearing again
these are great to direct where our eyes are looking at
giving a little direction

Birdies again!

Buttons are great to draw a diagonal line across the page
so that everything is drawn together

And that's all for now :)
Till next time!

P.s. yes the giveaway will be up soon!
Check back again at the end of this wk!
